I started out making earrings for myself somewhere around 1983. Ten years later I graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Jewelry and Metalsmithing.
I am drawn to creativity that uses both halves of the brain. I enjoy the engineering challenge of a jewelry piece combined with the beauty of an exceptional bead or stone. My jewelry is primarily fabricated directly in metal, with works ranging from simple, everyday pieces to more elaborate, “goin’ out” pieces.
Around 2013, I added ceramics to the mix, incorporating porcelain into my jewelry as well as making some Big Ass Mugs, bowls, and few random other things.
When I’m not in the studio, I’m teaching at Ascension Martial Arts, or relaxing at home in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I hope you enjoy what you see here. I can be contacted at robin@steelheadstudio.com.
